2003 web trends
Instead of writing my own list of major trends and events on the web in 2003, I’ll link to a few lists that, when combined, include just about everything I would have had on my list:
- Dave Shea (for The Web Standards Project): Standards ‘03
- Craig Saila: The year that was - Looking back on the year standards broke…2003
- Makiko Itoh: 2003 web design fashion trends in review
Some buzzwords from these lists (plus a few I added): web standards, XHTML + CSS layouts, semantic markup, unordered lists, comment spam, CSS Zen Garden, the death of web browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape), the birth of web browsers (Safari, Firebird), CSS hacks, validation, Verdana less popular, access keys, minimalism, clutter, background images, fixed vs flexible layout, RSS, accessibility, image replacement.
